Two months ago, I was arriving in Bulgaria. At this time I was a lost volunteer in this unknown country that is Bulgaria for me and had no idea of what is volunteering. Two months is a short period of time, but many things can happen in such a short time.
Let me summarize these two months in a few words : crazy, surprising and mind opening. First I learned how to work in an association. As I have been writing many articles for ABS I finally discovered that I like to write, especially in English and now I feel more confident about my writing skills. I also had the chance to participate in many initiatives, human adventures and worked with very different people, which is really enriching.
I also became familiar with Bulgarian lifestyle, no matter how much you work or how long was your day, you need to enjoy life. So every week we were gathering with the volunteers for some pizza, tea, disco, bar, or just to talk.

But what I won’t forget by leaving, are the people I met. There is nothing special in what I am saying, but still I will miss them all. ABS team, the high school students I met during the training in Bansko, the crazy volunteers I met here in Blagoevgrad and my mad, messy flatmates.
My EVS was also the opportunity to travel, which allowed me to discover a tiny fraction of this old, immense culture.
I discovered Plovdiv, the future Cultural Capital of Europe, went to Melnik by hitchhiking, saw the beautiful Rila Monastery, visited the impressive Sofia, saw many breathtaking landscapes and will go to Macedonia for my last week.

After two months I feel like I’ve grown a lot, I met so many people and learned about Bulgaria and Bulgarian culture. I couldn’t imagine such a stay by coming here.
